Blackpop’s new wallpapers, fabrics & rugs to be launched at Decorex 2018
Blackpop are set to launch their new collection of wallpapers and fabrics at Decorex in September 2018. The Collector’s Collection is inspired by the Sir John Soane’s Museum, London’s hidden gem and treasure trove of antiquities and wonder.
Collaborating with the museum and directly working and reworking architects’ drawings, paintings and objects d’art, Blackpop has created its most opulent and dramatic work to date.
The Collector’s Collection consists of five new wallpaper designs, three new fabric designs and two hand woven rugs, each with its own story to tell.
Designer and Director Maxine Hall says: “To work with this renowned collection has been an immense privilege and at times I have felt a heady responsibility to do justice to these precious and iconic artefacts.
“A couple of my highlights were reworking two of Adam’s illustrations that never came to realisation until now, embedded in ‘Fresco’.
“The other was working with and taking out segments from Canaletto’s paintings of Venice and reassembling them for the background of ‘Capriccio’. Our design approach isn’t to copy existing motifs it’s a creative process of dismantling, reassigning and combining to create works of art in their own right.”
