Kohler Waters Spa at the Old Course Hotel set to reopen following multi-million renovation
The Kohler Waters Spa at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews will reopen in early 2018 following an extensive multi-million refurbishment. Opening up to the public for the first time, it will offer a luxury spa retreat in the heart of Scotland with a focus on hydrotherapy.
As the only Kohler Waters Spa outside the USA, the renovation will see the spa separated into two distinct areas; one dedicated to the guests’ spa journey and the other to leisure and fitness.
Designed by Sedley place, the extension and refurbishment of the existing space will create a total of 25,000 sq. ft., featuring 13 treatment rooms including two couple’s rooms, as well as two wet treatment rooms offering Kohler bathing experiences.
Signature treatments will feature natural, marine based ingredients including seaweed and peat from Voya and Phytomer, as well as luxurious rituals, Himalayan salts and aromatherapy from Comfort Zone. Expertly crafted treatments by Margaret Dabbs, the woman whom A-listers and royals call upon to get their feet red-carpet-ready, will be on offer for manicures and pedicures. Guests can also expect highly customised treatments by the spa’s therapists, as part of the ‘custom time’ menu, where they will receive a personalised treatment programme.
The new Kohler Waters Spa will provide a ‘SPA’ in the true meaning of the word, offering ‘Salus Per Aquum’ – ‘health through water’. Guests can indulge in the healing effects of water, from a hydrotherapy pool providing therapeutic bathing, a cold plunge pool and a refreshing Ice Fountain to experience showers featuring Kohler Real Rain™.
There will also be a steam room providing deep muscular relaxation and detoxification, a Finnish sauna and a rooftop garden with hot tub.
The renovation will see the addition of a new 20m lap pool as part of the large health and fitness centre, as well as a gym area with cardio and resistance stations, a functional fitness space and a group exercise studio, with instructor led classes along with innovative virtual training.
Bordering the renowned 17th Road Hole of the Old Course, the Old Course Hotel is situated in a prime location overlooking the famous links courses, the West Sands Beach and the beautiful Scottish coastline. This prestigious AA five-star awarded hotel features 144 rooms designed by French designer Jacques Garcia, including 35 suites.
