InterContinental Perth City Centre
InterContinental Perth City Centre is now open, adding a new level of sophistication to Perth’s vibrant heart…
IHG has unveiled InterContinental Perth City Centre last month – the 6th InterContinental hotel in Australia.
Nestled amidst ‘The King Street Precinct’ with a charming heritage streetscape of theatres, cafes and luxe retailers, the new 240-room property is the latest offering from InterContinental – the world’s first international luxury hotel group.
Designed by Woods Bagot with interiors by Chada, the 16 -torey InterContinental Perth City Centre combines distinctly West Australian details with global design and hospitality experiences.
Specially commissioned sculptures, paintings, bespoke ceramics and glass works by renowned WA artists feature together with a focus on regional food producers, growers, brewers and vignerons throughout the hotel’s stylish line up of restaurants and bars to proudly fly a local flag.
Meanwhile, an elegant residential feel to the classic rooms, studios and penthouse in understated taupe, olive and bronze hues – all with views over Perth’s cityscape – combined with a dedicated Club InterContinental ramp up the worldly sophistication factor. Club InterContinental guests have the exclusive benefit of retreating to the top floor, a sweeping space offering a la carte breakfast, all day refreshments, high tea service in the afternoon and canapés and drinks from sunset.
The hotel’s collection of restaurants and bars are already the talk of the town, whetting appetites for new city places to meet for espresso to cocktails, tapas to longer affairs.
From food-truck concept eatery Graffiti where great coffee, and gourmet-to-go bites are served from a street art styled roller door; to Heno & Rey a slick reinterpretation of a tapas bar spilling on to Hay and King Streets offering just caught seafood, charcuterie, small bites and larger plates with sangria on tap and local wines; as well as The Loft Lounge perched on the hotel’s first floor for early morning pastries, refined high tea service come afternoons or ‘InterContinental Worldly Classic’ cocktails anytime while reclining inside or alfresco on the terrace – all are now welcoming hotel guests and locals alike.
Ascua, the moody ground floor restaurant is a dramatic new take on the classic grill, is set to open 1st November. Spanish for ‘ember’, a striking open kitchen will be the focal point for showcasing the preparation of aged beef and meats, while intimate banquette seating and moody surrounds will pair with service from Ascua’s sommelier.
The Gallery Meeting Suites completes the hotel offer, providing a reimagined environment for business gatherings, seminars and more intimate events in ways not seen before in Perth thanks to a dedicated floor of four light filled suites, a central lounge area, private al fresco terraces and display kitchen.
Each meeting suite has access to The Chef’s Pantry, a stylish central lounge always stocked with refreshments for use any time during their function, while a spacious outdoor terrace complete with a bar, BBQ and cooking station provides sophisticated al fresco hospitality possibilities for event planners, so too a display kitchen in the largest meeting suite suitable for live culinary demonstrations during an event.
Beyond the hotel’s doorstep on Hay Street, His Majesty’s Theatre (home to the WA Opera, WA Ballet and Perth’s myriad cultural events); luxe retailers from Chanel to Kailis Pearls lining King Street and café filled laneways await, along with Perth’s business hub, city parks and the Swan River ferry options at Elizabeth Quay.
“The InterContinental Hotel brand has been offering luxury travel for over 70 years, and we are looking forward to our guests experiencing the sophistication of the InterContinental life at the new InterContinental Perth City Centre”, comments Adam McDonald, General Manager of the new InterContinental Perth City Centre.
“We’re so proud to create a truly international hotel for Perth,” Adam continues.
“The details in our new hotel from the bespoke artwork, to the dynamic bars and restaurants and our signature Club InterContinental will impress, but it’s the welcoming service from our team, the local knowledge they’ll share and global etiquette they’ll extend that we’re most excited about,” he adds.
