SLEEP & EAT, 19-20 NOVEMBER, OLYMPIA LONDON
Sleep & Eat returns this November with the theme for 2019 of ‘Social FlexAbility’. The show will be exploring one of the most challenging issues of our technology-enabled age, how can you provide flexible spaces where users can activate the social experiences of their choice. This will be explored through the Sleep & Eat Sets – concept guestrooms, restaurant and bar – and the Sleep & Eat Conference.
Sleep & Eat features an international Exhibition, bringing back world-renowned manufacturers and introducing newcomers to launch their latest collections and showcase their most design-led products. Expect a range of experiential spaces tapping into art, innovation and young design talent.
From discovering the very latest products from leading industry suppliers, to immersing yourself in hospitality spaces of the future at the Sleep & Eat Sets and hearing from those shaping the global industry at the complementary Conference… Sleep & Eat 2019 truly is your conceptual playground.
See hospitality design in all its forms with an edited exhibition of concepts, products and trends from Europe’s leading brand including including Sahrai, Bang & Olsen, Roca, Morgan, Vitra and many more.
Show highlights…
As well as an extensive programme of events including conferences and presentations, the Sleep & Eat event will be hosting design concepts put together by some of the UK’s top design talent:
The Hub
The Hub, designed by Wilson Associates, is an exciting new addition to the show.
Responding to this year’s theme of ‘Social FlexAbility’, The Hub will be the place for co-working and networking, for quietly catching up with emails, or simply relaxing away from the busy exhibition floor. The inspiration for the space is a circle, a closed curve where not only do people come together in a shared experience but all the elements inside have been, or will be, recycled.
Circular ‘Eclipse’ light fixtures by Astro Lighting will circumnavigate the space; tables and seating – re-upholstered if second hand – will be from Knightsbridge Furniture, and Floor tiles will be supplied by Atlas Concorde.
“The space will be a lounge where everyone is welcome to convene and collaborate. A circle is a powerful thing as it evokes a sense of connection, equality, equilibrium, balance, unity and safety. Our goal is for the stand to be completely sustainable; every product will have been used, or will be used again. As a circle represents a cycle, we want to be able to maintain the geometry of recycling.” Juan Carlos Rodriguez Artigas, Design Director of Wilson Associates.
VIP Lounge
New for 2019, the VIP Lounge will be designed by Moscow-based interior design studio, MEGRE INTERIORS.
MEGRE INTERIORS have named their design concept ‘Gather’. The original oak panelled Olympia Club Room will be transformed into a whimsical flora and fauna-inspired space with all fabric supplied by SAHCO. Drapes, upholstery and flooring will be in a fabric depicting exotic flowers, specially designed for Sleep & Eat.
With over 46 projects in the hospitality sector to date, MEGRE INTERIORS is currently venturing out into luxury hotel design. As a part of her projects Yuna creates many bespoke pieces of furniture and lighting, which are currently being shaped into an own brand collection.
Arriving in the entrance reception, guests will find themselves enticed into the space by a single thread of light. Cascades of fabric flowers will loop through the space and, in the epicentre, a large-scale light installation will flicker like a fire. This will be surrounded by orbicular seating – referencing the circular gathering places of human history and drawing a parallel to the primeval pleasure of coming together around a fire pit.
“The human soul blossoms fully only when we meaningfully connect with one another. In an age marked by the impersonal, it’s vital to trust people over brands. To meet, to see, to know each other and embark on the adventure of creation together.” Yuna Megre, MEGRE INTERIORS
