Brand New Hotel brand Chapter & Verse to open in China 2018
The brand-new hotel brand, Chapter & Verse will open its first property in Wuzhen, Zhejiang China.
This 5,000-square-meter (53,800-square-foot) boutique hotel overlooking the water is surrounded by a stunning landscape and is slated to open in spring 2018.
Chapter & Verse was created to meet the expectations of the rising creative class and all independent-minded travelers in China. Chapter & Verse values the millennial travelers who are willing to discover new experiences in this popular location. Chapter & Verse, as a brand, aims to make daily life a verse that individuals will integrate into this creative chapter of their lives. Through simple, inspirational design and storytelling as well as the concept of extraordinary experiences, the atmosphere and features provide the joy of discovering new things.
There will be 30 rooms and suites with the addition of two individual villas, one of which will be used as an atelier. The hotel’s spa facilities offer guests treatments ranging from traditional Japanese stone steams to a sauna. Other on-site amenities include a restaurant and a bar. Most of the hotel rooms include a garden view with a private veranda or an open-air bath, an ensuite bathroom, and a spacious living room. Nightly rates are projected to be in the $150 to $600 range, depending on the season. The charming Watertown scenic zone is just a short ride away. Shanghai and Suzhou are each a two-hour drive away.
The architecture of Chapter & Verse, designed by New York based New Practice LLC, is a juxtaposition of modernity with traditional riverside dwelling in Wuzhen. The multidisciplinary design company NOSIGNER, based in Yokohama, created the branding for the hotel. E-DESIGN from Osaka designed the hotel’s landscaping. Illumination of City Environment (ICE), the lighting designer of the newly opened Hoshinoya in Tokyo, has been appointed as Chapter & Verse’s lighting design partner. UDS designed the hotel’s main building’s interior and acted as the consultant for the operation.
