YOTEL has announced plans to open its first city property in the Netherlands to complement its YOTELAIR Schiphol airport hotel, marking its sixth hotel property in Europe. Due to open in late 2019 with 204 cabins, it will be located at Asterweg, Amsterdam Noord. Built alongside a sidearm of the River IJ, the hotel is at the epicentre of the up-and-coming Buiksloterham neighbourhood for start-ups and creative businesses. This will be YOTEL’s second city centre hotel in Europe, following the recently announced London Clerkenwell property.

The project is being developed by Being Development, an innovative and fast growing real estate developer based in Amsterdam, and is currently in the planning stages. The finished hotel, designed by the up-and-coming architecture practice StudioNineDots, will include significant outdoor space, an outdoor terrace next to the water, boat docking spaces and a unique sustainable water system. YOTEL and its partners will also be collaborating with the local art community to incorporate art and design into the hotel and grounds.

Known for its smart design, cabins will include YOTEL’s signature space saving adjustable SmartBed™, monsoon rain shower, a technowall, which includes adjustable mood lighting and smart TV with easy connectivity to own devices. In addition to the luxurious and comfortable cabins, YOTEL Amsterdam will also feature the Club Lounge concept with a restaurant and bar as well as space to work and relax. All cabins and communal areas will be served by super-fast and free WiFi connectivity.

Hubert Viriot, CEO of YOTEL said: “Over the past year, we have been talking about the unprecedented rate of expansion of the YOTEL brand across the globe with the opening of a new YOTELAIR in Paris Charles de Gaulle and breaking ground in both London and Dubai. This year alone we will be opening three new city hotels in Boston, Singapore and San Francisco. We are delighted about embarking on our YOTEL Amsterdam venture with Being Development, which is the next step in expanding our portfolio of affordable luxury hotels in Europe.

“As with all our existing hotels, we will integrate our signature technology elements and individually curated and designed public spaces, we look forward to partnering with the local community in doing so. This will be our first hotel to have access to waterways and boat docking facilities and will have a beautifully designed terrace on the water surrounded by gardens – the perfect escape from a hectic day of work or sightseeing.”
