Building finally commences on luxury spa in Kyiv, Ukraine
ZIKZAK Architects have designed wellness spaces for the new format TSARSKY spa complex in Taryan Towers, Kyiv, Ukraine.
The team developed the design for an indoor 25-metre swimming pool, fitness and yoga areas. The interior corresponds to Taryan brand’s innovative message and its pursuit of the highest quality in the latest global trends.
An exquisite spa complex, where the design evokes an impression of an extraterrestrial underwater realm, reimagined through the lens of modern luxury and futurism. The aqua zone concept is built around the metaphor of water and its fluidity. The focal point is a ceiling installation of glass drops, creating an effect of crystallized water splashes. These drops, arranged in a wave-like pattern, reflect and diffuse light, creating a dynamic play of reflections on the pool’s surface. Magic is added by caustics – the effect of light reflection and refraction in water, which creates shimmering patterns on walls and floors. These light patterns change and add a sense of movement to the space. The interaction between glass drops on the ceiling and natural caustics from water creates a multilayered light symphony, where artificial and natural effects complement each other, emphasizing the aquatic theme of the interior.
The interior’s colour palette is maintained in cool tones – from deep blue to gentle lilac, emphasized by a sophisticated lighting system. LED illumination of columns and walls creates a water shimmer effect, while matte surfaces contrast with glossy ones, enhancing the sense of spatial depth. Architectural elements support the water theme: corrugated columns resemble waterfalls while simultaneously referencing ancient times when SPA procedures became an important attribute of elite lifestyle. The luminescence of the columns creates an illusion of constant water movement. Relaxation areas are equipped with futuristic streamlined loungers resembling seashells or water-polished pebbles.
The mosaic pool finish with built-in lighting resembles a starry sky reflected in the water. Glass partitions and mirrored surfaces expand the space and multiply light rhythms. Special attention is paid to textures: corrugated wall surfaces contrast with the pool’s smooth water surface, forming an expression of light and shadows. The matte stone flooring supports the overall aesthetics of the space while providing anti-slip properties.
The impeccable convenience and versatility inherent to futurism are also reflected in the aqua zone’s functional thoughtfulness. A full-fledged 25-metre pool is suitable for sports competitions, not just family recreation. To diversify seating options, various types of loungers are provided: family-sized, individual, fully reclined and semi-reclined. Space is also allocated for lounge beds with canopies for privacy and relaxation. For comfortable family visits, a children’s pool has been installed. A child can always remain in the parents’ field of vision, as the small pool is visible from any point in the facility. The designers have also included space for equipment – convenient shelves for storing swimming accessories.
The concept of the fitness zone organically continues the futuristic aesthetic. The interior is maintained in a monochromatic palette with accent blue lighting. Metal columns with textured light-reflecting surfaces create a sense of high-tech space. The functional zoning takes into account ergonomics and visitors’ flow experience: cardio zone, strength training equipment area, boxing ring, and functional training zones smoothly flow into one another. Details – from high-tech sports equipment to LED floor lighting along the perimeter – create an effect of levitating structures. The minimalist design emphasizes the premium nature of the space, while well-thought-out navigation makes it intuitively understandable for users.
The yoga zone transports you to a completely different atmosphere, where ascetic minimalism and naturalness prevail. The calm, subdued interior with living plants promotes relaxation and tranquility.
In the design of Taryan Towers’ wellness zone, every element works to create a sense of immersion in another world, far from everyday hustle and bustle. The space invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the moment, surrounding themselves with beauty and comfort.
Construction work on the fitness & wellness area in the Towers of the Future has already begun. We’re holding our breath in anticipation of the opening to see this new WOW project in reality.
