Coco Lom x Parkside Collab for Clerkenwell Design Week

Posted in News on 11 April, 2024

The launch of an exclusive terrazzo tile collection with Hackney-based abstract pattern artist, Coco Lom, is just one of the highlights for Parkside Architectural Tiles at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week.

Made from 100% British terrazzo, Coco Lom x Parkside is a capsule tile collection from the Hackney-based artist that’s launching at Clerkenwell Design Week. To celebrate the launch, the artist will be in residence at Parkside’s studio throughout CDW creating a series of one-off murals that you can be in with a chance of winning. You can also pick up the Coco Lom x Parkside limited-edition tote bag.

This collection of terrazzo tiles in Coco Lom’s signature abstract patterns will bring a unique look to any commercial interior and is made in Manchester. Throughout the week, Parkside will also be holding terrazzo making workshops, so you can join Coco Lom and Ethical Stone, makers of the collection, and try out vibrant colours and shapes to create a unique coaster for your desk.

This year, the studio will also be the first chance to see two newly released sustainable tiling products. On Tuesday, Alusid’s Dr Alasdair Bremner will explain how it’s achieved the lowest carbon emissions of any ceramic tile through production techniques, raw material sourcing and a deep dive into its carbon footprint. Wednesday will see Criaterra explain how the in-situ performance of Criaterra 2.0 has been improved without disrupting its 100% natural and biodegradable composition and a manufacturing process that uses 90% less energy than normal ceramic tiles.

Jonathan Wiles, director of commercial sales, Parkside: “There’s a lot to see in the studio this CDW, all with a common thread of products that are demonstrating innovation in respect to environmental impact. With British terrazzo that has 70% lower CO2 emissions than equivalent European-supplied products and incredibly innovative solutions in materials and the energy consumption of production; it’s set to be a hugely exciting three-days and we’re looking forward to welcoming the community in to find out more.”

On Thursday, the institution that is Lockley’s Cocktail Lounge will return to the Parkside Studio, so you can celebrate the closing of Clerkenwell Design Week with the makers and creators of the special launches and projects that make this one of Parkside’s most exciting Clerkenwell Design Weeks ever.
