Leroo La Tau Lodge enhances its luxury experience with a new refurbishment.

Gazing across at the western bank of the Boteti River, Leroo La Tau has always been the prime spot to witness the miracle of Botswana’s annual animal migration. Now, the spring reopening has showcased the recent refurbishment of this superlative destination which pays tribute to this fascinating migration – the second largest in Africa. The refurbishment marks the exciting first step in establishing Leroo La Tau as the new stand-out destination for Botswana. With its extensive new redesign and luxurious feel Leroo La Tau is the perfect base from which to explore this truly unique piece of Botswana paradise. Comprised of just 11 thatched and glass-fronted chalets and one family suite (consisting of two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms), the camp can accommodate a maximum of 24 guests at any given time providing all our guests with a truly intimate and authentic safari experience.

In the main building, the lounge and dining area, with its inviting wooden and thatch finish, captures the essence of a classic bush camp. Relaxing at the bar is an enticement to listen to the immense variety of night sounds that characterise the African bush. Guests can also splash around in the swimming pool or enjoy the unique river views. For a quiet time, there is also a reading room.

This area is an essential element of the massive annual migration where guests can also expect to see enormous herds of oryx, wildebeests, impalas, and springbok as well as elephants, hippos, and vultures. A hidden hide, below the lodge at water level, offers panoramic vistas of animals coming and going and is ideal for viewing wildlife on the river’s edge. Superb for offering memorable photo opportunities.

Lying at the frontier between the Okavango River and Makgadikgadi, the Boteti River is the main outflow of the Okavango Delta, which lay dry for almost two decades but began to flow again in 2009. In this unique landscape safari activities at Leroo La Tau take the form of morning and afternoon game drives to find game along the river system and in the bushland just beyond the river’s edge. The river provides a lifeline for the wildlife which inhabits the arid national park and is a critical link in the annual zebra migration, now the focal point of the luxury refurbishment. With wildlife concentrations at their peak between May and October, Leroo La Tau enjoys a captivating outlook in its prime location. Depending on water levels, boating safaris are a blissful way to see aspects of the surroundings.
