This May sees the launch of Middle Eight, an exceptional lifestyle luxury hotel located on Covent Garden’s Great Queen Street. Offering 180 rooms, including 12 suites, and multiple food and beverage outlets, Middle Eight will quickly build its reputation as the London hotel of choice for those who expect luxury and, above all, care about how it’s delivered.

At the hotel’s core is the desire to drive a more engaged, responsible and purpose-driven era. Middle Eight’s founder Rishi Sachdev has appointed a dedicated purpose team to work with General Manager, Christian Graf, to embark on this journey. Together, the team will question the status quo, push boundaries, innovate sustainably, enrich employee wellbeing and have meaningful social impact with a small environmental footprint.

The moment guests step through the double-height atrium they will experience a relaxed atmosphere which extends to the bedrooms, where effortless style and peerless comfort are combined. London-based design practice Tonik Associates, and architects Ray Hole, are behind the hotel’s stylish interiors.

The design of the hotel takes its inspiration from nature and is brought to life through the use of natural materials such as stone and wood and a soft, tonal colour palette that runs throughout.

Motifs inspired by the elements are present throughout the hotel, from the atrium’s undulating feature wall which features open fireplaces, to the hundreds of burnished leaves suspended over the Sycamore bar.

Middle Eight will reflect its vibrant Covent Garden locale by becoming a cosmopolitan hub of entertainment and dining for those who want to live the city rather than just stay in it.

Central to the property’s ability to draw in local life are its dynamic restaurants and bars. Sycamore Vino Cucina ensures that guests and locals mingle throughout the day. With its all-day menu of Italian and Californian dishes which invite sharing and indulgence, the ambience is fun, informal and sociable. Live DJs take the experience beyond the food and ensure the buzz continues late into the night.

Overlooking Sycamore, and for those seeking a little more seclusion, The Balcony is a relaxing haven serving an all-day, globally inspired menu in a tranquil setting.

Downstairs, guests will find QT – a space for live performances and screenings – which offers something different every night of the week. Bringing the spirit of Covent Garden’s famous piazza into the hotel, QT will regularly host comedians, musicians and singers to perform on the central stage. With its own street entrance, this is a destination in and of itself – the perfect space to hire for exclusive events.

Middle Eight is owned and operated by Shiva Hotels. This significant addition to the group sets in motion Rishi Sachdev’s long-held ambition to create hotels as he believes they should be.

Rishi Sachdev states: “At Middle Eight we will choose to do things not because they are easy, nor because it’s what everybody does. We will choose to do them because they represent our collective vision of what’s right. We will inspire guests, teams, communities and partners to believe in and share our world view. We will challenge our competitors by disrupting the status quo and by offering our guests a genuinely new option: a conscious choice to experience luxury with purpose.”
