Plans for boutique hotel in Nottingham Guildhall
Developer Miller Birch is drawing up plans for a boutique hotel in Nottingham’s Grade II-listed Guildhall, once the home of the city council.
The company bought the Victorian building from Nottingham City Council in October 2016 and is working on a £120 million plan to develop the property and surrounding 2.3 acre site.
The scheme will incorporate a new teaching facility for Nottingham Trent University, accommodation for 500 students, offices, restaurants and bars, alongside the hotel.
Mark Bielby, development director at Miller Birch, said: “We’ve started talking to hotel operators about who and how we will take the scheme forward.”
The planning application for the scheme will be submitted to Nottingham City Council in the summer, with a view to opening the hotel by September 2019.
