PRECIOSA receives Red Dot Design Award

Posted in News on 29 November, 2017

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 has been awarded to Preciosa’s Cultivation of Chandeliers exhibit and Flagship Store in Prague, designed by Vasku & Klug, Preciosa’s creative directors. Preciosa’s entry was chosen as the winner from 50 creative works from agencies, designers and companies.

In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is one of the world’s largest design competitions.

Preciosa Lighting is part of the Preciosa Group, one of the world’s leading companies in the field of high-precision cut crystal. The roots of the company start in 1724, in Kamenický Šenov in the Czech Republic. Over the centuries Preciosa has consolidated and expanded its knowledge of the characteristic properties of crystal into masterly expertise, with the highest standards of craftsmanship, unique technical know-how and distinctiveness of design. Preciosa Lighting can be found all over the globe, in Versailles, St. Petersburg, London, Dubai, Macao and New York, in both public and private palaces and residences. Preciosa’s product range also includes crystal components for the jewellery and fashion industries and its legendary crystal beads.

The Cultivation of Chandeliers. Since 1724

The Cultivation of Chandeliers exhibit represents Preciosa’s dedication to bringing its glass-making heritage to a diverse audience and ‘cultivating’ new methods and designs. Using contemporary designers and modern techniques, Bohemian crystal is reinterpreted in new breathtaking installations.

The Flagship Store

At the Flagship Store in Prague, Preciosa honours both the brand and the tradition of Bohemian crystal chandeliers. Located in an old city palace, the chandeliers are presented in a double-height gallery, with further displays of tableware, glasses, and crystal beads, giving the exquisite crystal a home of fitting magnificence.
