PULLMAN HOTELS & RESORTS OPENS FIRST UK NEW BUILD IN LIVERPOOL
Pullman, the upscale international hotel brand of AccorHotels, announces the opening of Pullman Liverpool, the brand’s first ever UK new build with lead design by architectural and interior design practice Denton Corker Marshall LLP.
As a signature of all Pullman Hotels & Resorts, the design of Pullman Liverpool establishes a link to its immediate surroundings. Situated at King’s Dock on Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront, once a dockland for timber storage and tobacco, the newly-built hotel has been designed to reflect the city’s rich maritime history. It features 216 rooms, an all day dining restaurant called Dukes and a bar and lounge with views of the River Mersey.
The hotel offers a range of ensuite room types including Superior, Deluxe and Executive, one Executive Suite and one Junior Suite. All room types offer guests a range of amenities including mini bar, 40” flat screen TV with free movies on demand, complimentary Wi-Fi, indulgent Co, spacious wardrobe and safe. Deluxe and Executive rooms include a Nespresso machine and Bose docking station. Twenty-six rooms are inter-connecting, ideal for families.
The brand’s attention to quality, detail and design is evident in the specially commissioned pieces of furniture within the rooms that have been designed to meet the needs of the Pullman global nomad traveller. The seating has been designed to cater for guests staying for business or leisure, with a multi-functional window bench for guests to stretch out and relax on, or work from in conjunction with the adjacent table. The hustle and bustle of docklands life is reflected in the carefully curated artwork that adorns each room via dramatic large scale graphics.
“The opening of Pullman Liverpool marks a significant step for the brand in opening its second hotel in the UK,” said Jonathan Sheard, Senior Vice President Luxury, Upscale and Midscale brands, AccorHotels. “As our first new build Pullman hotel, guests can expect to see the same high spec design and cosmopolitan vibe that is synonymous with the brand. It is very exciting to be on the same site as ACC Liverpool and we are looking forward to welcoming guests, delegates and local residents.”
From the striking glass-fronted façade through to the rooms and public areas, the palette of materials used within the hotel is inspired by Liverpool’s iconic docks through the use of brushed copper, timber and stone.
The furniture within the hotel’s public areas is generous, colourful and functional. In the Connectivity Lounge, guests can recline in high backed chairs where lamps with integrated iPod chargers are displayed while the statement timber wall nods to the concept of stacking and storing timber. The double height hotel entrance area and lobby is open plan and free from reception desks with the brand’s design cues reflected in the impressive jet black world globe that sits in reception.
Inspired by the iconic dock and the city’s maritime history, Dukes is a brasserie-style restaurant with open plan kitchen and comfortable banquette seating that accommodates 125 diners. The restaurant uses Pullman’s CuisineINmotion food concept to offer guests an innovative, seasonal menu in an atmospheric waterside setting.
