RPW Design Awarded for Hotel Continental Oslo
RPW Design has been awarded for its re-design of Hotel Continental Oslo, one of Norway’s most sought after five-star hotels. On 22 October 2015, RPW Design received a ‘Special Mention’ in the prestigious AIT Magazine Awards in Cologne for exemplifying an innovative and captivating use of textiles. This followed a multi-stage nomination and seven-person judicial process, rewarding RPW Design for offering this treasured Nordic jewel a renewed position in the current and leading luxury market in Oslo.
Hotel Continental Oslo
Hotel Continental Oslo is Norway’s only member of the Leading Hotels of the World Group. The hotel is over 100 years old, first opening in 1900, and has been in the same family for over four generations. The refurbishment of the interiors by RPW Design offered a sensitive re-design of the hotel’s public areas and 155 guestrooms, bringing the interiors into the 21st century whilst respecting the style of the historic property. RPW Design were awarded for demonstrating the extensive versatility of textiles in the hotel’s interior design. The chosen colours and fabrics create a pleasing ambience that exudes a deep sense of security:
“The light palette of colours, textures and fabrics were all carefully selected – the use of metallic, silver and pearl tones gives the interiors the lightness so necessary in dark northern latitudes whilst also creating a sense of tranquillity and warmth,” said Jan Wilson, founder of RPW Design.
The exceptional re-design of Hotel Continental has also recently been shortlisted for 3 awards; including Best Event Spaces for the EHDA2015, Best Decorative Lighting Installation for the darc awards and Best Hotel Interior for the European Property Awards.
