Shanti Maurice, Mauritius, the first resort in the Indian Ocean to join the Design Hotels portfolio

Boutique lifestyle resort, Shanti Maurice – a Nira Resort, on the south coast of Mauritius is delighted to announce its membership as the first hotel in the Indian Ocean to join Design Hotels. Shanti Maurice joins its two sister properties, Nira Alpinaand Nira Montana in the handpicked selection of boutique, design-driven luxury hotels from across the globe, that make up the Design Hotels portfolio.

Exemplifying an understated elegance that is revered by Design Hotels, Shanti Maurice is designed by local Mauritian designer, Jean-Marc Eynaud, who based its composition on a tropical model to reflect the resort’s natural surroundings. The interiors follow a similar theme, utilising a balanced palate of natural materials including local hardwoods, lava stone, granite, marble and slate.

Adhering to Design Hotels’ celebration of cultural authenticity, Shanti Maurice’s signature restaurant, Stars, has launched a brand new cuisine, Aquacasia, which showcases the traditional homemade recipes from the Indian Ocean capturing each island’s love of food. The resort’s rustic beachside Fish Shack celebrates the bounty of the surrounding seas, whilst the Rum Shed built in the style of the traditional island rum shops, captures the essence of a bygone area, offering a truly authentic Mauritian experience.
