SIX SENSES DOURO VALLEY, PORTUGAL TO ADD NEW SUITES, GUESTROOMS AND EVENT SPACES

Six Senses Douro Valley has announced the addition of seven suites and three guestrooms due for completion in July 2019. Originally intended as a seasonal wine retreat, Six Senses’ first European resort was received with unparalleled success when it opened in 2015 and continues to be one of the finest luxury properties in Europe today.

Each guestroom and suite will be beautifully appointed and quiet, with sleep and calm-inducing colours and lighting having been chosen to create a very personal and intimate retreat. The colour palette and finishes will mirror the slick style of the resort’s existing rooms and suites, but with some contemporary updates. For an enhanced personal experience, guests will be able to curate and stock their own mini bar ahead of arrival, which will include tempting local delicacies. True oenophiles will delight in the new first floor suites, as each will come with a temperature-controlled state-of-the-art wine fridge replete with a selection of fine Douro wines, especially regulated to keep them at their optimal temperature.

Authentic natural materials gathered locally from the Douro Valley will be incorporated into the décor, including wine bottle light fixtures, vineyard tools from yesteryear and wall art inspired by wooden wine cases. The bathrooms are spacious, and bedrooms will feature two king beds in four rooms, and super kings in three suites and in one Quinta Superior. Each of the ten new guestrooms and suites on the ground floor will feature spacious outdoor areas with comfortable seating and hot tubs in the bathrooms. Two of the current guestrooms will also have private wooden bridges built that lead to secret gardens with seating and hot tubs, perfect for moments of meditation.

Furthermore, to add an extra dimension to the already impressive MICE offering at Six Senses Douro Valley, a new space for meeting rooms is being created with outstanding views across the vineyards to accommodate meetings and events for between 20 and 70 participants. The walls will have ‘writable’ sections to enhance fun at interactive meetings, and all rooms will be equipped with the latest technology. A dramatic feature is the indoor/outdoor adjoining room for pre-functions or break-out sessions. It features a vast open skylight, a full height living wall and is multi-functional to transform seamlessly from a quiet lounge to either a luxurious cinema, lecture room, reception room, or even an aerial yoga or meditation space.

Six Senses Douro Valley is located in the beautiful Portuguese UNESCO World Heritage area of the Douro Valley.
