Surface Design Show invites you to uncover the newest materials for 2018
Surface Design Show 2018 will be host to a plethora of surfaces that will be unveiled in the UK for the first time.
From vibrant coloured wood grains to stunning light systems, visiting architects, designers and specifiers will get the chance to see the latest surfaces to be unveiled for 2018. Taking place from the 6-8 February at London’s Business Design Centre over 170 exhibitors will be showcasing the very best in surface design.
Amongst the many launches at Surface Design Show:
ColourGrain (stand 334) responds to the increasing demand for both sustainable, decorative design materials and the beauty of visible woodgrain in an innovative new interior and exterior wood cladding. Using a variety of timbers that can be FSC-sourced, each hand-finished ColourGrain plank undergoes up to ten different processes, including sandblasting and up to eight coats of water based, non-toxic exterior lacquer in over 50 striking colours.
Aecore from Althatherm (stand 524) is a true alternative to laminate. Thermoformable, scratch, finger print and humidity resistant and with solid colour to the core, this easy to work with material is available in over 100 surface designs with the possibility to customise for any project.
NeonLux is a brand new neon-style lettering product from Applelec (stand LS432) which can be used to create any graphic LED lit shapes and imaginative designs from lettering to the outline of a cocktail glass or a lighting bolt. NeonLux features a highly polished application to replicate a true glass finish.
DKT Artworks (stand 258) are specialists in the design, production and installation of site-specific artworks and on-site specialist decoration. Launching at Surface Design Show is a new application, Metalled Glass. Traditional gilding methods combined with a redolent of oil on water are used to produce this ultra-contemporary effect creating unique pieces with a truly individual bespoke finish.
Concreate Flooring (stand 200) returns to Surface Design Show where they will be showcasing the latest developments for their ground-breaking innovation in concrete surfaces. The engineered ready-made floor and wall panels can be installed in just about any interior space and work alongside any material to create compelling, modern architectural styling. Two new colours will be launched this year; Titanium Black and Metal Grey.
FINSA (stand 210) will unveil 12 new editions to the Gama Duo designs, a range of decorative melamines which bring together a diverse collection of classic and contemporary designs. The latest additions consist of a carefully curated variety of fresh new colours and textures.
At Surface Design Show 2018 there is an extensive programme of events, lectures and installations some of which will feature new designs for 2018. Trend consultant and design writer Sally Angharad will be presenting Surface Spotlight Trends: The Latest Material Directions with highlights for transport and residential applications, on The Main Stage on Wednesday 7 February at 15.45pm. The largest residential design database in the world Houzz will host Surface & Material Insights with their brand ambassador Melissa McCafferty, on the Main Stage from 16.45pm on Wednesday 7 February. On Thursday 8 February Hannah Malein of Colour Hive will be discussing Four key colour stories for Spring/Summer 2019: Disrupt, Drift, Hush and Worth.
Surface Spotlight Live, which debuted in 2016, is an exciting opportunity for architects and designers to discover the newest and best materials in the industry. The 2018 display will be collectively curated by Sally Angharad, Treniq (in collaboration with SCIN Gallery) an international interiors network and Colour Hive who forecast trends and colours. Trend expert Sally Angharad will be showcasing a selection of innovative and exciting materials across all sectors with a specific section for 2018’s focuses; Transport and Residential. Mix magazine and Colour Hive will curate a dedicated installation, The Trend Cluster, focussing on Spring Summer 2019 and featuring a curated collection of inspirational objects and materials with an emphasis on both the luxury residential and transport sectors. Treniq, the international interiors network will present Material Explorations which will focus on popular materials within the architecture and design sector and explore their properties.
Visitors will be able to discover the beautiful, the bold and the innovative in surface design with over 170 exhibitors showcasing 1000’s of different surface designs, many of which will be making their 2018 UK debut.
