Uniquely poised as a new urban haven within the Chinese capital, The PuXuan Hotel and Spa opened on 1st February 2019. The latest Urban Resort Concepts (URC) luxury hotel is moments away from one of the world’s most significant historical sites, Beijing’s Forbidden City.

Designed by internationally acclaimed German architect Ole Scheeren (formerly with OMA), the hotel completes the new Guardian Art Centre in an iconic state-of-the-art building at the intersection of WangFuJing Street and WuSi Street, a symbolic crossroads of commerce and arts.

In collaboration with Shanghai-based design firm MQ studio, the hotel’s interiors will exemplify URC’s hallmark design principles, integrating luxurious and understated metaphorical design throughout a modern space, uniquely crafted with local, cultural references. The hotel’s artwork, curated by the Guardian Art Centre, will feature some of the finest contemporary Chinese art in the region today.

A collection of immersive half and full day programmes curated by The PuXuan that provides guests exclusive access to local, hidden gems and landmarks alike, ensures travellers to Beijing experience the breadth of the city’s history, culture and gastronomy.

Comprising 92 rooms and 24 suites, each feature handcrafted and artisanal furniture by Hermès-owned Chinese lifestyle brand SHANG XIA and boast awe-inspiring views over either the Forbidden City or one of Beijing’s oldest neighbourhoods, DongCheng District.

The PuXuan reflects an entirely guest-centric experience rooted in a culture of Urban Resort Concepts’ (URC) Hostmanship™, encompassing the spirit of intuitiveness and generosity at its very core. With uncompromising standards of aesthetics and service, the hotel connects its guests to the quintessential Beijing experience, rooted in authenticity and context.

Redefining the luxury hotel guest experience landscape in Beijing, the many inclusions and benefits at The PuXuan will include 24-hour check-in and check-out, a fully stocked mini-bar replenished daily, and daily breakfast anywhere in the hotel or on the go.

A true oasis in the heart of the city, The PuXuan also features URC’s proprietary UR SPA that will offer bespoke treatments by CHA LING – “L’Espirit du Thé”, an LVMH brand that combines traditional Chinese medicine with French beauty, along with organic formulations by one of the industry-leading creators of wellness products COMFORT ZONE.

Set to become Beijing’s definitive dining destinations, Rive Gauche serves unpretentious French classics with extraordinary savoir-faire whilst Fu Chun Ju serves some of the capital’s finest Cantonese preparations. With direct access on levels 2 and 3 of the hotel respectively, the openings of Rive Gauche and Fu Chun Ju are welcome and overdue additions to the culinary scene in Beijing, where guests will discover a new appreciation for local provenance as they enjoy seasonal menus that highlight the unique flavours of the finest, local and heirloom ingredients.

A slice of bohemian Paris right in the heart of Beijing, Rive Gauche perfectly encapsulates French “bistronomy” cuisine, where Executive Chef Ivan Miguez interprets French classics with his own personal twist, imbued with influences from his travels around the globe, paired with his keen eye for detail and perfection from his years spent in numerous Michelin-starred kitchens. The space is intelligently designed to include a variety of dining, lounge, and bar, private and outdoor spaces and constitutes the venue of choice for its exquisite food offerings, expertly-crafted cocktails and exceptional wine selection in a sophisticated yet vibrant atmosphere that draws inspiration from the Parisian comptoir or “counter” culture.

Fu Chun Ju offers a journey into the extraordinary, culinary world of Chef Waikit Yeung; one in which he and his team pay homage to time-honoured Cantonese flavours, interpreted in contemporary and exciting new ways. Designed as a contemporary tribute to the capital’s traditional Hutong home, the thoughtfully conceived variety of non-intrusive open and private spaces with their clean and simple lines, feature Beijing’s famed hues with an aesthetic of amber glass, delicate timbers and stone. With a strong emphasis on seasonality of ingredients, Chef Yeung’s cuisine is characterised by its meticulous preparation and nuanced flavours, be it his delicate dim sum, roast meats, claypot dishes or his exquisite seafood preparations.

Other spaces include The PuXuan Club, offering a new level of privilege along with round-the-clock exclusive access to a handsome and fully serviced lounge, Tea Room, The Lobby Lounge, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and a variety of indoor and outdoor venues for both corporate and social gatherings.

As all URC’s sister properties, The PuLi Hotel and Spa, Shanghai, The RuMa Hotel and Residences, Kuala Lumpur and The PuShang Hotel and Spa, Xiamen, The PuXuan is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, an exclusive collection of more than 400 luxury hotels around the globe. Further URC properties under development include Hangzhou, Moganshan, Sanya, Shenzhen, Yunnan and Yongchun in China as well as Dubai, Maldives and Lombok, Indonesia.
