TONIK ASSOCIATES, COMPLETES REFURBISHMENT OF 5 STAR BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN DUBLIN
London based interior design firm Tonik Associates completes The Dylan, Dublin with vibrant and harmonious guest bedroom and suite schemes with bright accents and bespoke furniture.
Tonik Associates are pleased to share the successful completion of their latest interior design project in Dublin: the refurbishment of the 44 guest bedrooms and corridors at the renowned Dylan Hotel. The design approach for the bedrooms seamlessly married the existing unique architectural elements with classic influences, resulting in three distinct and vibrant colour schemes that harmoniously integrate the hotel’s DNA.
The design concept drew inspiration from the diverse array of guests that visit the Dylan, their personal styles, and their purpose for visiting Dublin. At the core of this concept are defining features such as the intricately painted ceilings and alcoves and a strong attention to detail evident in the selection of cushions and soft furnishings throughout the rooms.
Caroline Campbell, Head of Design at Tonik, quotes: “After analysing guests’ use of the spacious rooms, we discovered that their layout, as well of size of the previous furniture meant that they were underutilised. As a result, we reimagined the suites to include a separate living area which not only elevated guest experience but also gave the opportunity for additional revenue generation.”
To complement this transformation, bespoke walnut furniture, with accents of brass and natural stone, were meticulously produced for each room by Gem Joinery. This not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also improved the flow and functionality of the space.
Collaboration was a cornerstone of this project, with the Dylan’s dedication to supporting Irish talent evident in their partnership with art director Catherine O’Riodan of the So Fine Art Editions Gallery. This collaboration resulted in a thoughtfully curated portfolio of original artworks from Shane O’Driscoll, Colm Toolan, Mary O’Connor, Alice Fitzgerald and others. These artworks seamlessly complemented the new design schemes, offering guests a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Irish artistry.
Grainne, owner of the Dylan, explains: “It was really important for us that we, as a hotel, would always support young Irish artists, and showcasing contemporary Irish art throughout the bedrooms exemplifies the country’s talent to our guests.”
