UK: Victoria + Albert Baths takes centre stage in renowned luxury hotel, Grantley Hall
Victoria + Albert Baths, the esteemed pioneer of luxurious bathing, is honoured to have seen a selection of its exquisitely crafted freestanding tubs specified in the bathrooms of the newly renovated Grantley Hall Hotel.
Initially built towards the end of the 17th century, Grantley Hall is a hidden jewel in the Yorkshire Dales. Offering 47 exquisite bedrooms, Grantley Hall combines breath-taking scenery and lust-worthy décor for a truly regal retreat – within which Victoria + Albert’s QUARRYCAST™ bathtubs take centre stage.
Following a recent makeover, Grantley Hall has been reborn; as a Grade II listed property, it was pivotal that the space retained its sense of heritage in the form of muted tones, velvet armchairs, marble-topped furniture and upholstered bedheads. It was fundamental that this feeling of timelessness extended to its bathrooms, too. Having cut the initial design back from 75 bedrooms to 47, each suite allows space for a beautiful bathroom, designed with the comfort of guests in mind.
Despite a consistent theme of traditional elegance throughout, one of the most striking features of Grantley Hall is that each of its 47 rooms boasts its own distinct styling, meaning each bath specified from Victoria + Albert’s portfolio caters to the individual design of each opulent suite. The hotel’s designers chose many of Victoria + Albert’s most popular designs, including the Marlborough, a large and luxurious slipper bath based on a traditional ‘bateau’ bath; the Toulouse, a deep, double ended bath featuring a transitional design suitable for both classic and contemporary spaces; the Warndon, featuring a classic ribbed rim, adopting the detailing found in classical stonework; and the Cheshire, a timeless roll-top tub with a claw-foot detail guaranteed to add style and grace to any bathroom.
Each bath and basin is crafted from the brand’s proprietary material, QUARRYCAST™; a unique blend of Volcanic Limestone™ and high-performing resins with several beneficial properties. Warm to the touch, ensuring the water retains heat for longer, each bath is luxuriously smooth, wipe clean, scratch-resistant, super-strong and lightweight. Thanks to the recent introduction of its RAL colour service, designers and specifiers can create custom bathtubs to suit their design scheme, selecting from a spectrum of 199 colourways in a choice of matt or gloss finishes.
Grantley Hall is just the latest five-star hotel to specify Victoria + Albert’s gorgeous baths and basins; previous projects include the likes of Foxhill Manor, the Belmond Cadogan and Chewton Glen in the UK, alongside those further afield such as Adare Manor, Ireland; &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge in South Africa’s Kruger National Park; New York’s Baccarat Hotel & Residences; Italy’s Rosa Alpina, nestled within the most tranquil of settings in the Dolomites; and New Zealand’s Matakauri Lodge, looking out over the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
About Victoria + Albert Baths
Victoria + Albert Baths was born out of a passion for luxury bathing. The vision was simple: to set the standard for style, innovation and performance in bathing products. Renowned for exceptional design and rigorous attention to detail, Victoria + Albert also developed a unique material called QUARRYCAST™, made from a blend of Volcanic Limestone™ and high-performance resins. Volcanic Limestone™ is Victoria + Albert’s name for the very special white rock that is perfect for making baths and basins. Volcanic Limestone™ rock is milled and blended with high quality resins to bind the strands of rock into a complex 3D matrix. The finished result is QUARRYCAST™ – a world class stone composite that delivers unrivalled strength, durability and beauty. Victoria + Albert is part of Fortune Brands Home & Security’s Global Plumbing Group, alongside Perrin & Rowe (kitchen and bathroom brassware) and Shaws (fireclay sinks).
