Posted in News on 26 January, 2018

Jason Hsiang has been appointed to Senior Vice President of Development for North America for YOTEL. Based in New York, Jason will spearhead the acquisitions and development team responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing joint venture agreements, acquisitions, and long-term management agreements for new YOTEL, YOTELAIR and YOTELPAD projects in the USA and Canada. Jason joins YOTEL from Thor Equities where most recently he held the position of SVP of Hospitality.

“It is with great delight that I welcome Jason to our team,” said Hubert Viriot, CEO of YOTEL. “It is an exciting time for YOTEL as we expand at an unprecedented rate across the globe and Jason’s appointment will strengthen our development efforts in North America. With an excellent team in place and working closely with our existing partners, we’re looking forward to maximising all our opportunities with a specific focus on key gateway cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.”

Through his extensive hospitality career, Jason has been involved in over $2 billion of hotel transactions throughout North America and Europe and responsible for growing several independent hotel companies into internationally recognised brands. After completing his formative years with Lazard Freres Real Estate Investors, Jason moved to Northstar Capital where upon taking Morgans Hotel Group through an IPO, joined the development team where he deployed $500 million of equity investments over six years. Jason later worked for SIXTY Hotels as Senior Vice President of Development.

Continuing to focus on global expansion, YOTEL also announced today, that Rohan Thakkar will be promoted to lead the development team for Europe and the Middle East based in London and Nikhil Manchharam’s responsibilities will be expanded to include the Pacific region in addition to Asia based in Singapore.

“YOTEL’s portfolio has grown tremendously over the past few years across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This led us to establish specific development strategies based on regional trends and strong relationships with the local investment communities. It was therefore only natural to organize our development team accordingly and have regional heads focused on our core market areas. Rohan and Nikhil have done a tremendous job growing the company since joining YOTEL and therefore I congratulate them for their expanded roles,” concluded Hubert Viriot. “

YOTEL set a target of having 60 hotels open or in development by 2023 and earlier this month announced 5 deals in the US, Europe and Middle East under their new brand YOTELPAD.
