Architect Jane Greenwood is Honored as an “OUT 100”

Posted in News, People on 13 November, 2017

OUT Magazine has announced their annual celebration of the most influential LGBTQ people of the year and architect Jane Greenwood, Principal of Kostow Greenwood Architects, is among the list of inspiring individuals.

Greenwood is the only Architect and professional from the building/construction community to be honoured this year.  Joining a list of women and men across a diverse professional spectrum – including Navy SEAL Veteran Kristin Beck; MTV President Chris McCarthy; Playwright Paula Vogel, Actor Jonathan Groff and Lifetime Achievement Honouree Billie Jean King – Jane Greenwood is an Architect and business owner who hopes to encourage up and coming designers to feel secure in knowing that who they love should be irrelevant in the design and construction professions.  As she often says, “Diversity, creative thinking and passion for architecture are what really matter.”

“I’m incredibly humbled to be one of this year’s OUT 100 honourees.  I was proud to be out 30 years ago and I’m still proud,” says Greenwood. “There has always been a cause worth fighting for in our community.  The topics may change but the need to speak out has not.  I’m still fired up after all these years.”

Aaron Hicklin, Editor-in-Chief of OUT Magazine, writes in his introduction to the special issue, “So many of those celebrated in this year’s OUT 100 are people who have taken it upon themselves to build a platform to share our stories.”
