Mark Zeff To Be Inducted To Interior Design Hall of Fame
Award winning interior designer Mark Zeff has been announced as an inductee to the 33rd annual Interior Design Hall of Fame. Recognised for his distinct attention to detail, storytelling, and consistent high-quality execution, Mr Zeff was selected for this honor-of-a-lifetime as the 2017 Design recipient in this year’s new category structure.
“I am honoured to be inducted into the prestigious Interior Design Hall of Fame, and humbled to stand beside the likes of Frank Gehry, Ian Schrager, and David Hicks,” says Mark Zeff.
Mr Zeff is an accomplished talent who has run his own eponymous interdisciplinary firm, MARKZEFF, for 30+ years in addition to starting a multi-faceted lifestyle brand, BLACKBARN, with his wife Kristen. His wide range of experience includes inspiring residential and hospitality projects as well as high-end retail and real estate development, product and brand development, and super yacht design. Through BLACKBARN, he has also worked with international brands to develop product lines for the US market, such as an exclusive interiors line with the Dutch brand, Serax.
Selected by Interior Design editor in chief, Cindy Allen, and a nominating committee of existing Hall of Fame members, the 2017 recipients will be inducted at a ceremony in the Jacob K. Javitz Center that will include a special tribute to the designer of the building, I.M. Pei, in honor of his 100th birthday.
Having grown up in South Africa and traveled the world extensively with his wife Kristen, the many geographies Mark has experienced have shaped his design aesthetic into a unique mix of refined yet organic, rustic yet urbane. These characteristics continue to emerge in both his architectural projects and his recent retail venture with Chef John Doherty, BLACKBARN Chelsea Market, opening this October.
