Anglepoise lights up the contract market
From the creation of the Original 1227™ desk lamp in the 1930s to the development of extended Type Range collections under the creative direction of Sir Kenneth Grange, putting light where it’s needed is what Anglepoise does best. With a distribution network spanning 50 countries and the introduction of Anglepoise Pro., bespoke lighting solutions in association with leading LED specialist Xicato, Anglepoise Projects are now a primary focus for this British lighting brand.
Contracts recently completed include this remarkable 37,000 sq. ft. space converted by Oktra into a state-of-the-art London HQ for Photobox Group’s 400 employees. Located in an historic former Daily Mirror printworks in Clerkenwell, four floors surround a vast industrial atrium, each floor colour-coded using the CMYK formula at the foundation of all print shops. Anglepoise Original 1227™ Giant floor and pendant lamps, custom coloured in complementary Light Blue, Traffic Yellow and Telemagenta, were introduced alongside Jet Black to emphasise and enhance the striking colour spectrum.
In June 2018, leading digital consumer personalization giant Photobox Group (Photobox, Moonpig, Hofmann, poster XXL) opened a state-of-the-art London HQ in an historic former Daily Mirror printworks in Clerkenwell. UK design and build firm Oktra converted the historic 37,000 sq. ft. four-storey space into an agile technology and business hub for the group’s 400 employees whose brands operate across fifteen markets. In line with company culture and ethos, the brief required an environment that would support collaborative and flexible ways of working, offering each brand ‘squad’ a variety of completely open-plan work, daily stand-up and collaboration spaces.
The four floors surrounding a vast industrial atrium are colour-coded using the CMYK formula at the foundation of all print shops. Anglepoise® Original 1227™ Giant Floor and Pendant lamps provide functional lighting across each floor, most custom coloured in complementary Light Blue, Traffic Yellow or Telemagenta. Exposed original concrete walls, pillars, ceilings and an original crane hanging over the reception sit in juxtaposition to the clean, modern and colourful design and furnishings throughout.
