Barr + Wray at Rosewood Guangzhou, China
Currently the seventh tallest building in the world, the Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre is a 530-metre tall mixed-use skyscraper, boasting the world’s highest five-star hotel and world’s fastest elevators, running at an incredible 76kph. Located in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, the building forms a trio of tall structures with the 439-metre tall IFC in one direction and the 604-metre tall Canton Tower in another.
The Rosewood Guangzhou occupies the top 39 floors of the 108-storey structure with over 250 guestrooms and 355 residences, including 23 duplex apartments. The environment is luxurious throughout, reflected in the design of various food and beverage facilities some incorporating outdoor spaces in the sky, with all enjoying spectacular views across the Guangdong Province. Recreational facilities are spread across two high floors, with the Asaya Spa and swimming pools located on level 94 – certainly the highest installation for Barr + Wray.
Barr + Wray was commissioned to provide engineering consultancy for the spa and pools, later converted to a design and build package. Their scope consisted of male and female hot pools, cold pools, warm salt rooms and steam baths associated within the spa, children’s pool and vitality pool located in the main wet area. All pools are utilising medium pressure ultra-violet treatment allowing users to bathe in five-star luxury.
