COLLABORATION IS KEY
Laufen has a long heritage of collaborating with internationally renowned designers. These unique partnerships offer the opportunity to blend Laufen’s expertise in ceramics with a constantly evolving design aesthetic, which comes from working with a prestigious group of outstanding international designers. This enables them to offer outstanding bathroom products, both in form and function, to their customers.
Kartell by Laufen
The Kartell by Laufen range created by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, is a design collaboration that unites the best properties of two brands; Kartell contributes creativity and expertise in plastic objects, and Laufen, high quality and precision in ceramics.
Ludovica and Roberto Palomba explain why they accepted the challenge of creating a Kartell by Laufen collection: “On the one hand, the interesting opportunity to work simultaneously with two market-leading companies. On the other, we were inspired by the prospect to bring a unique vision to life that unites technology and ‘emotion’. Kartell and Laufen are two companies that are very different from one another. The first one has always been a brand in itself with respect to the iconic power of its products, the other with respect to the architectural value of its collections. Working with both of them at the same time, we learned to allow these different aspects to coexist, to give this interior design project iconicity.”
A new and extended Kartell by Laufen range has recently launched in the UK,including elegant new washbasins, new furniture elements, a rimless floor-standing WC-combination and a free-standing bathtub. All the accessories and furnishings in plastic have also been updated with two new colours:powder pink and emerald green. The colours opaque white and opaque black will be available for mirrors, shelves and towel racks. These beautiful softer colours offer a completely different look to the original vibrant collection.
Sonar
The innovative new SONAR collection is the latest range from Laufen and has been created by internationally acclaimed and eclectic designer Patricia Urquiola.
Laufen has been working with Patricia since 2016, and she explains what drew her to collaborate with the brand, “Well first they called me to design their showroom in Madrid, a city that I care a lot for. Then we start talking about a design collaboration. I was interested in evolving the project with a bold and innovative approach. I wanted to interpret and explore the very unique and interesting characteristics of Saphir Keramik, both in terms of design as well as form and function. In this way Laufen and I partnered to create the SONAR project.”
Contrast, balance, elegance: in the SONAR concept Patricia Urquiola manages to combine two powerful and apparently widely separated matrices of inspiration: the rigour of architectural minimalism as an expression of purity and formal understatement, and the energy and dynamism connected with the natural phenomenon of sound waves and their relationship with water. The unique SONAR range includes thoughtfully and elegantly designed wall-hung washbasins, washbasin bowls and bathtub.
