Hugues Chevalier, designer of contemporary furniture since 1978
By reinventing Art Déco furniture in the early 80’s, Hugues Chevalier has made a name for himself among high-end contemporary furniture designers. Even today, this craftsmanship and aesthetic know-how remains the mark of the brand. The new Hugues Chevalier collections are made up of luxurious furniture with a unique design. The brand favours tailor-made services to meet the needs of both private and professional customers.
Art Deco furniture as a source of inspiration
When, in 1978, Hugues Chevalier created his first models of contemporary sofas, he chose to inspire and revisit the Art Deco style. An aesthetic bias against the trend of the time, but quickly earned him recognition as one of the best designers of upscale contemporary furniture.
Luxurious leathers, precious woods, richness of details, care given to comfort, know-how of the best craftsmen … Hugues Chevalier pays homage to the work of the decorators and decorators of the 30s and designs each piece of furniture as a unique piece.
High-end contemporary furniture, in the pure tradition “à la Française”
The brand Hugues Chevalier perpetuates the tradition of “French style” aesthetics. The “Charleston” and “Dominique” sofas inspired by Art Deco furniture and elevated to the status of design icons, are still flagship models, as is the iconic “Ying” armchair.
To make the tradition live, the brand Hugues Chevalier chooses to expand its range and offers new furniture and objects of contemporary high-end decoration, fruit of the work of talented designers. Low tables and sleek buffets, elegant desks, but also bedroom furniture and pieces of original sofas, these creations adapt to new uses.
Through its renewed collections, the brand Hugues Chevalier combines tradition and modernity and declines a certain lifestyle.
From custom furniture to interior design projects
The brand Hugues Chevalier designs and manufactures each piece on demand. According to the collections, the customization is multiple: eight wood colors, matte or glossy finish, metal, bronze or chrome, marble option, leather or fabric covering.
Its in-house design office, specialized in interior design, supports all its clients in the design and implementation of development projects in France and abroad (hotels, corporate headquarters, embassies, etc.)
A development turned towards the international
In 2013, Hugues Chevalier became part of the BCHC family group created by Hubert Taïeb, who for more than 50 years has been carrying the stylish furniture at its highest level and serving a prestigious international clientele. The cabinetmakers, upholsterers and varnishers of the Group’s workshops are now bringing their high-quality know-how to Hugues Chevalier’s creations.
Building on its success internationally, the Parisian brand opens new showrooms. After London, Berlin, Brussels, Geneva, Chicago, Moscow, Beirut, Hong Kong, Hugues Chevalier is preparing the next locations in Singapore, Shanghai or New York.
A family story
Hubert Taïeb has passed on his passion for decoration and luxury to his two sons, Frédéric and Laurent. Both are now running Hugues Chevalier and Bertrand Prestige brands. Eager to continue the legacy, the two brothers have surrounded themselves with a new team of designers and bear, with conviction, the aesthetic “French” far beyond our borders.
