Recently refurbished by new owners Brunning & Price, Arrow Mill combines traditional and contemporary design for a style which embraces character for a sophisticated and luxury feel.

Overlooking the estate of Ragley Hall in rural Warwickshire, Arrow Mill is a sympathetically converted flour mill that offers spectacular riverside views, a huge bar, a restaurant and nine en-suite bedrooms.

These delightfully individual bedrooms, required bathrooms that would not only be in keeping with the high-end interiors but were easy to maintain and lastingly beautiful, despite daily use. Each room was to have its own subtle design difference. After researching various bathroom designs from modern to vintage, Brunning & Price chose Kohler products to design bathrooms which would combine both design styles while oozing luxury and promoting wellbeing.

Tom Fletcher, operations director at Brunning & Price, said, “We wanted to have a complete room specification from one supplier and we liked the high end feel and design expertise that we got from Kohler. Together with our designer Spatialized, they were able to fit our design intent of traditional contemporary.

“In a small hotel we are able to focus on premium items for a boutique quality and we wanted every bedroom to give guests that all important ‘wow’ moment. It’s very typical for a guest to head straight to the bathroom to see how luxurious it is as soon as they enter the room and Kohler exudes this quality. Our showpiece room which features the Cleo roll top bath with the Purist freestanding tap installed in the bedroom certainly give this impression as soon as you walk through the door,” he continues.

“For the other rooms the wow factor comes from the combination of the Cleo bath coupled with a spacious enclosure. We also wanted to be able to offer a shower-only en-suite option but we weren’t going to compromise on quality or experience.”

The traditional Cleo roll top bath is crafted from Kohler cast iron, which is made from 97% reclaimed and recycled materials. “We liked the sustainable choice of the Cleo,” praised Tom. “It is well made and enamelled to a really high standard; it will last for years. The elegance of the Purist floor-mount bath filler really sets off the bathing statement area and the quality of the solid brass construction makes for a pleasingly robust feel.”

Continuing the theme of sustainability, the Katalyst Rainhead eco-showerhead is fitted with an air induction system which uses less water without compromising on water pressure. “We know that guests like to indulge in a hotel bathroom, and so they should,” says Tom. “Katalyst gives us the peace of mind with this indulgence and satisfaction that we are ‘doing our bit’ to be mindful which offering a luxurious shower experience. For the rooms which feature just a large walk-in instead of a bath, this was important.  The traditional Artifacts hand shower was installed to offer a contrast to the traditional nature of the freestanding bath.

The Ladena under mount basin sits sleekly underneath a white counter-top and is complemented with wall mounted Purist taps with crosshead handles. This simple, classic design is fresh and elegant and is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Purist crosshead shower valves were also fitted to be in keeping with the brassware design.

Derek Millar, Global Projects and Specification Key Account Manager at Kohler, said, “This project was a perfect fit for Kohler. It showcases statement pieces such as Cleo and Purist in the traditional yet contemporary setting the pieces were designed for. Our eco  Our team carefully selected pieces which offered impact and elegance, as well as durability and ease of maintenance.”

Brunning & Price manages a number of estates in similar settings across the UK and is continuing its plans to develop similar concepts. “Compared to other products we have used across our estates, Kohler has definitely stood the test of time so far, and this was a key part of our brief,” concludes Tom. “We would certainly use bathroom products from Kohler in the future.”
