Laufen introduces the new VAL Collection; a complete bathroom range featuring SaphirKeramik

The aesthetic lightness of SaphirKeramik combined with a masterful design suitable for everyday use, make Laufen’s Val bathroom collection unique and successful all over the world. Now the Munich star designer Konstantin Grcic has designed new pieces for the collection, including a show-stopping circular bathtub, to create a complete bathroom offering.

The Val bathroom collection is characterised by clear geometric forms, thin walls, extremely narrow edges and gentle radii. This interaction between forms and lines was taken up again by Konstantin Grcic for the design of the new bathroom products, and implemented masterfully by Laufen in SaphirKeramik material. “From the very beginning the Val design was supposed to be suitable for everyday use,” says Konstantin Grcic, “we have stayed with this philosophy for the new pieces.”

A 120 cm-wide washbasin has now been added to the existing range of countertop and vanity unit washbasins in standard widths of 55 to 95 cm. Due to it being made from SaphirKeramik, it appears impressively delicate in spite of its size, and is very understated within the bathroom architecture. At the same time the basin has a large capacity, so that it can be used as a double washbasin in a version with two faucet holes. The 95 cm-wide washbasin version now also features this option.

Easy-clean toilets and a bidet

The circular element as a design feature can also be found in the wall-hung toilet, wall-hung bidet and the floor-standing WC-combination, which are also new to the collection. Here Grcic and Laufen have succeeded in giving the ceramic body an extraordinary optical lightness through a skilful combination of straight lines, round basin and tapering elements. In addition, there is a high degree of utility, because the wall-hung toilet and floor-standing WC-combination are rimless, and so are extremely easy to clean.

The new toilets can be flushed with 4.5 and 3 litres, or 6 and 3 litres. The floor-standing WC-combination has additionally been fitted with the newly-developed efficient flushing mechanism by Laufen, together with new installation-friendly fittings for the cistern.

New options for bathtub and bathroom furniture

One real eye-catcher in the Val bathroom is the free-standing circular bathtub, which has a diameter of 130 cm and offers an alternative to the oval model which has already been launched. Thanks to its narrow edges, it interacts perfectly with the filigree washbasins, appearing light and elegant. Its white, easy-care surface caresses the skin, inviting the user to stay in the bathtub for a little longer. Thanks to the Sentec mineral cast material, Laufen can produce the bathtub with a single wall and in one casting, complete with an integrated overflow.

Alongside the Boutique and Space bathroom furniture ranges, which can be combined with Val, this range also complements the new Base bathroom furniture range. Base features a minimalist and understated design, good quality and functionality, making it excellent value for money. Base is available in a range of colours and finishes.

High-quality brassware completes Val

Konstantin Grcic has also created a new, high-quality brassware range for Laufen, especially for Val. The tactile design is created by the conical shape of the faucet and drain, as well as in the delicate-looking operating lever with its voluminous underside. This gives the single lever mixers a slim, light look, which harmonises completely in form with the thin-walled SaphirKeramik washbasins. The combination of sensitive composition and beauty together characterises Val.

For a complete bathroom look, there are two washbasin models with different outlet lengths, a pedestal mixer for countertop washbasins, a concealed wall mixer, and bath and shower mixers, which all feature Val’s characteristic design language.
