New chandelier collection from Nuura
At Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, Nuura is launching a new chandelier collection designed by the award-winning designer, Sofie Refer. The collection is inspired by flowers, fond childhood memories and has been named Apiales, which is the Latin term for umbellifers.
From childhood, Sofie Refer was fascinated by the gorgeous wild umbellifers that grew on her grandparents’ cottage grounds in Denmark. The memories of the long summer evenings and the beautiful wild nature have been integrated into the design of the new chandelier collection, Apiales, from Nuura.
“Umbellifers are my favourite flowers and a symbol of nature’s generosity. The flowers spread gracefully from the flower stalks and, to me, symbolise the abundance found in nature,” explains Sofie Refer.
The fascination with umbellifers and the incredible intelligence that exists in nature is deeply rooted in Sofie. Through the Apiales collection, she has interpreted precisely this, with a desire that the elegant chandeliers will spread positive energy and atmosphere to their surroundings.
“Light affects me in a positive way. It boosts the energy and creates an atmosphere in a room. For me, the chandelier is the ideal form of lighting, and through the new Apiales collection, I want to spread pleasant and atmospheric lighting,” says Sofie Refer.
The new collection from Nuura consists of two chandeliers with 9 or 18 mouth-blown glass globes and are available in golden Brush Brass finish or the smooth Satin Black. The chandeliers are carefully produced without visible screws or welds, and from a specially-produced canopy, the arms unfold like flower stalks and are completed by the mouth-blown glass, from which light is spread with grace.
The Apiales collection is a reinterpretation of the classic chandelier that, with its layers and natural shape, brings Nordic nature into the home. Apiales is designed so that it can both hang high or low from the ceiling, and thereby offers many applications. The smaller chandelier, Apiales 9, with its 60 cm in diameter, fits over the dining table, in the bedroom, or in the hall, while the larger chandelier, Apiales 18, with its 90 cm in diameter, will look great as the centrepiece in the foyer, a large living room or over a large dining table.
