In the category ‘Excellent Product Design – Lighting’ Nuura has been awarded a German Design Award 2019 for the Miira collection.

The Miira collection is created in a simple and timeless design. The lamps complement each other, and each one helps create a unique Nordic feel. The collection is designed with the chandelier at its centre and expands into a complete series of light. It can be used everywhere from private homes to large exclusive interior decorations. Miira means beautiful vision and is designed by the Danish lighting designer, Sofie Refer.

Statement of the German Design Award jury about the winning Miira collection: “Here, a simple luminaire comprising a ball and holder can be used as a table light or a suspended lamp – but can be enlarged at will, thus allowing for fascinating lighting designs. A beautiful and timeless design.”

“Thanks to German Design Award and the jury members for selecting our Miira collection in the category ‘Excellent Product Design’ and honouring us with this award.
We are truly obliged for this great honour and recognition, which brings great joy to the whole Nuura team,” says Sofie Refer, Creative Director & Co-owner at Nuura.

Also in the ‘Excellent Product Design – Lighting’ category, the Blossi collection was nominated and received a ‘Special Mention.’

Inspired by the golden light during the Nordic fall, Blossi is designed to give a soft and delicate light. Beautifully rounded glass lampshades give the Blossi collection a Nordic touch and complete the design. The collection ranges from a chandelier to lamps for the wall, table and floor. Fashioned from high craftsmanship with state of the art LED technology.

The German Design Award jury on the ‘Special Mention’ for the Blossi collection: “This superb design combines the clear characteristics of Scandinavian design with cutting-edge LED technology to form a sensuous luminaire that blends harmoniously into many interiors.”

The German Design Award show takes place on 8 February 2019 at the Ambiente trade show in Frankfurt.
