Nestled discreetly in the rustic Wujiang District of Suzhou, China, the Boatyard Hotel stands as a serene oasis harmoniously blending into its surroundings.

A true gem in the village of Shanwan, the hotel’s design, spearheaded by WJ Studio, in collaboration with GOA, celebrates the essence of natural beauty and tranquility. Anchored beside the region’s gentle river, the hotel’s minimalist architecture adheres to the sacred codes of nature-inspired aesthetics, exuding a charm that captivates every visitor.

At the helm of this visionary design lies Hu Zhile, the founding partner of WJ Studio, who places a profound focus on the intertwining elements of water and natural light. The hotel’s sculptural silhouette seamlessly blends with the waterfront’s majestic ships, showcasing a graceful dance of high and low arched roofs and undulating black-roofed buildings that evoke a fluid and flowing ambiance.

An unassuming floating island quietly drifts on the water’s surface, while an arched trestle bridge elegantly complements the gentle movements of the river.
