Washington DC … power and politics … need to leave it all behind?

Welcome to a city that is perpetually changing, yet timeless in its grandeur and elegance. And nowhere in the nation’s capital reflects this duality quite like Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown. Located in the fashionable West End and adjacent to the historic Georgetown, Fairmont welcomes guests in capital style.

Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) undertook the renovation of the Guest Lounge, Event & Meeting Spaces, and Suites, and were inspired by DC’s grand architecture and lush parks. The colour scheme is fresh and bright to maximise the natural light, and walls are painted white with additional wall trims for an elevated look. Dark stained wood floors and gold wallcoverings provide drama.

Drawn to the historical prominence of Washington D.C., the selected artwork merges contemporary sophistication and historical tradition through locally recognisable abstract visuals reminiscent of iconic landmarks, conceptually orientated embellishments, and thought-provoking compositions. With nods to grand architecture and beautiful gardens, the artwork pays homage to the layered past of Washington D.C. and encourages guests to immerse themselves in the urban oasis of luxury and leisure.

All bathrooms are fully renovated with white or grey marbles and new vanities for a spa-like experience.

Concept
Previous design was very tonal and spare. The goal for JBI was to elevate the look and feel by adding layers, contrast, and curated artwork. The built‐in reception desk was replaced with a sit‐down desk placed over a deep blue area rug against a decorative wall covering for a residential feel. All existing seats were re‐upholstered with soft grey fabrics and rich Cognac leather. New Antique mirrors and sconces were added. The centre area receives an artistic area rug, while the back area receives a bold blue wall covering creating drama and interest. The eclectic art collection is inspired by the Washington DC history and beautiful architecture, mixing traditional and contemporary mediums . The renovated Gold Lounge feels sophisticated, yet comfortable and welcoming.

Ballroom Level Foyer

Prefunction, Ballroom and meeting rooms
Much like a Green House, the Banquet spaces feel natural, fresh and luminous, using Winter white textured wall covering throughout. The carpet is inspired by Fall coloured leaves flowing over the city map in the background. The decorative ceiling fixtures in the prefunction room are a contemporary interpretation of outdoor lanterns while the Crystal chandeliers in the Grand Ballroom retrieve their formal glory. The dark furniture with bronze detailing bring contrast and sophistication.

Art Collection

Boardrooms
Each boardroom has its own character. The angular table base mixing bronze metal and glass embodies executive power, one has a dark and sexy Sahara Noir marble, the other a calmer yet exclusive Gunsmoke Onyx. In contrast the double padding back detail at the chairs provides softness and comfort. In both rooms, moldings, window seat and decorative pendant were added to re‐enforce a residential feel and timeless elegance.
