The Montcalm Luxury Hotels has now opened the doors to its sixth property, the Montcalm Royal London House – City of London, making Finsbury Square home to what promises to be one of the City of London’s most sought-after spaces.
Situated just moments from Liverpool Street station and close to Shoreditch, the 253-bedroom hotel marks a remarkable transformation of an imposing mid-century office building into a stylish five star property with uniquely striking views of London’s City skyline.
At the Montcalm Royal London House – City of London, the group’s trademark timeless elegance has breathed new life into the building’s fine mid-century features, with statement copper pipe lighting and exposed brick walls mixed with original reclaimed parquet flooring and silk-lined corridors, feature staircases and turquoise leather stools.
The hotel’s lead contractor and designer, SGP Contracts, along with renowned interior designer Russell Sage, Tonik Associates and 5Plus architects worked together to make its design and concept so unique.
Bedrooms
Similarly, its beautifully designed bedrooms and lounge areas blend effortless comfort with bespoke feature designs and boast a high IT-spec in each room.
The contemporary accommodation totals 253 bedrooms, including 50 Deluxe Rooms, 168 Club Rooms, 27 suites, from junior suites to family suites and quad rooms, and eight studio suites with kitchenettes – ideal for longer stays. There will also be five business suites available with generous work-space and a laptop on request. Two Palm Suites with private balconies overlook the Shard and other iconic City landmarks.
As with all Montcalm properties, attention to detail is key, with luxury touches such as a pre-order pillow menu, in-room Nespresso machines and an in-room aroma of choice, as well as Elemis and Hermès toiletries and private butler service on request.
Restaurants and bars
The hotel’s two restaurants, two bars and room service operation will be run by acclaimed restaurateurs, Tom and Ed Martin of ETM Group (The Jugged Hare, The Botanist Sloane Square and The Botanist Broadgate Circle).
On the ground-floor, ‘Burdock’ will feature a juice bar, lounge area and restaurant open from October. It is a truly modern yet comfortable third space perfectly designed for breakfast meetings and networking, as well as business lunches, after-work drinks and dinner.
‘Aviary’ on the rooftop and boasting some of the capital’s best skyline views, is due to open mid-November and is set to quickly become one of the area’s top destination restaurants.
Yet to come…
The hotel’s stylish, state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces are due to open in November. Fully versatile, the space can be hired for exclusive use for up to 300 guests, or individually for smaller events of around 60. All private rooms boast natural daylight from the building’s large, striking light wells.
An urban spa is also due to launch in November, featuring beautiful Versace wall tiles, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, two treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room, the perfect spot for some well-deserved relaxation after a long day at the office or taking in the sights.
Two Palm Suites with private balconies and a host of bespoke touches are also due to open in November, together with three private meeting rooms featuring a terrace overlooking the City skyline.
