Northern Powerhouse Developments expand their Yorkshire hotel portfolio
Yorkshire-based hotel operators Northern Powerhouse Developments have further expanded their growing portfolio of properties with the purchase of two more landmark hotels.
The group last night announced they had added the imposing Imperial Crown Hotel in the heart of Halifax and The Old Golf House Hotel on the outskirts of Huddersfield to take their collection of operational hotels across the country to an impressive 10 in total.
Talking about the latest acquisitions, NPD Chairman Gavin Woodhouse commented: “As a Yorkshire-based company, I am very proud to have added these two hotels to our portfolio and we now look forward to bringing a new and exciting dining and hospitality experience to Halifax, Huddersfield and the surrounding areas.”
“Having acquired The Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough last year, the purchase of these two new hotels means we now own three properties in Yorkshire with plans to acquire a further two in the county over the coming months.”
This latest deal saw NPD acquire both properties from leading leisure group Corus Hotels, with whom they have been in negotiations with over the past 12 months.
Richard Lewis, CEO of NPD Hotels said: “We are delighted to welcome these two prominent and much-loved hotels to our portfolio and expand our presence in Yorkshire.
“Their acquisition further strengthens our growing reputation within the industry and we look forward to delivering a guest experience like no other at both hotels.”
The Imperial Crown Hotel, located in the centre of Halifax will become an indulgent addition to a town that is currently undergoing huge investment and regeneration.
Sitting in NPD’s Boutique Collection of hotels, it will shortly undergo a complete renovation programme which will see it transformed into a lavish 41-bedroom hotel complete with fine dining and tailored for those looking for an indulgent break.
Ideally located close to the train station and the recently renovated Piece Hall, completion on The Imperial Crown Hotel comes at an opportune time for NPD as Halifax enjoys a record number of tourists visiting the town.
Meanwhile The Old Golf House Hotel, a stunning 17th century style property located just four miles from Huddersfield and once part of the town’s prominent Outlane Golf Club, will become operational under the new owners with immediate effect.
The 51-bedroom hotel which is ideally positioned between Leeds and Manchester, sits in three acres of beautiful gardens and is a popular venue for weddings and conferences.
Following its acquisition, NPD have announced the hotel will also be used as the group’s operational headquarters.
