Prestige Hotel Budapest
Majestic elegance and top gastronomy go hand in hand at the Prestige Hotel Budapest. Hamish Kilburn writes…
In one of the most beautiful cities in the world, where the freshness of East and the radiance of the West meet on both riversides of the strong-flowing Danube, sits the Prestige Hotel Budapest.
The historic facade of the gorgeous building on Vigyázó Ferenc Street, designed by József Hild, has been meticulously restored into its former beauty. The building has been restored in a way that even its internal structure stays intact, allowing all 85 rooms of the Prestige Hotel to open to the inner circular gallery, which is a six-storey-high atrium. The plans included a relaxation centre and a conference hall, so that the hotel is able to meet the requirements of guests arriving in the City for both business as well as pleasure.
The 19th-century-built downtown building reflects real upper-class elegance. Vintage-styled rooms echo the building’s heritage while offering generous public as well as private spaces throughout.
The underlying principles of Prestige’s reconstruction planning were design and quality work without compromise. The interior designers Virág Vörös, Csilla Sáfrány and Tünde Bagyinszkiné Kiss have combined vintage and modern style, classic peacetime elegance and state-of-the-art facilities when designing and furnishing every room and all public areas. The interiors are dominated by IPE Cavalli furniture, Swarovski crystal chandeliers, Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware, English hand-painted silk wallpaper, SICIS floors with bronze granular pattern, premium quality Harlequin Leonida Velvet textiles, which are all real treats for the eyes.
The hotel’s restaurant, Costes Downtown forms part of Costes, which is run by Károly Gerendai and chef Miguel Rocha Vieira. The restaurant has been voted the 25th best restaurant of the World, and has recently been awarded the very first Michelin star in Hungary.
As well as offering a place of relaxation, the property also features a 70-square-metre conference room, which is equipped with high-tech audiovisual facilities. The venue can comfortably hold up to 40 persons and is ideal for business meetings, training and other exclusive events.
