Just steps away from the famous art galleries and Boston’s financial district, Envoy Hotel has dared to pushed design boundaries to create a quirky yet high-end hotel for the modern traveller. The hotel has finally opened its doors, Hamish Kilburn reviews…

Stylish design, custom furnishings and a warm spirit that surrounds the property capture guests’ attention from the moment they lay eyes on the Envoy Hotel.. A bronze lettering etched into the entrance’s sidewalk reads, “This way forward”. Forward into contemporary playground.

Located steps away from iconic landmarks of Boston including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Moakley Courthouse and Fish Pier, the newly constructed Envoy Hotel is as pioneering as the innovative district that surrounds it.

The hotel fully embodies its role as a messenger, connecting and engaging with the innovative spirit of the neighborhood while keeping Boston’s energy and vibes within comfortable reach. As part of the Autograph Collection, the Envoy Hotel offers the rich experiences of an independent hotel stay that is “exactly like nothing else” with all the benefits of Marriott Rewards.

Handcrafted design features artisan-style décor, reclaimed woods throughout, expansive winders and sleek-modern finishes. The lobby area is bright and is dramatically lit by an over-sized chandelier made from reclaimed materials including rope and vintage phone cords. Tech-forward amenities include a classic billiards table reimagined into n interactive touch-screen workstation with six separate screens that can be used either on their own or all together. The communal area is comfortable with an interactive wall of heat-sensing bulbs that mirrors guests’ movements. It twinkles behind the check-in desk and is designed to encourage guests checking in to interact, communicate and feel relaxed.

Its 136-contemporary rooms, all of which offer floor-to-ceiling , triple-paned windows, which provide a choice of unmatched views of the city skyline or waterfront, casting natural light for a welcoming ambiance. All rooms feature bespoke furniture including sleek desks wrapped with a retro-inspired leather belt and wooden trunks with metal accents. Creating soft boundaries, a large-scale antique map has been overlaid onto a glass panel, which separates the bedroom from the spacious bathroom area.

Suited for the modern traveller, the hotel quirky rooms have been carefully designed to include bedside charging stations and locally sourced amenities. As well as this, the rooms feature state-of-the-art flat-screen TV mounted onto a bicycle frame.

Contemporary interiors blend beautifully in large and luxurious spaces around the hotel. Although the Envoy is part of Marriott International, subtle-quirky touches give this hotel its own identity.
