THE MARMARA PARK AVENUE HOTEL
Manhattan welcomes an extraordinary boutique hotel from the aclaimed designer Joe Ginsberg…
Creating a true boutique artisanal experience in the world of hospitality design, the 128-key Maramara Park Avenue Hotel in the heart of Manhattan was designed using old-world techniques in a cutting-edge style. From the bronze entry door and brass pendant to the cast limestone concierge desks and hand-embroidered banquette, every detail was custom made. The designer, Joe Ginsberg, worked with his team to produce an anthology of exclusive applications and architectural finishes to complement his vision. Materials include hand-blown glass, hand-forged and sculpted metals, gilded glass, seamless carrara and limestone, brass-inlaid terrazzo and reclaimed wood.
Centrally located, yet conveniently discrete on lower Park Avenue, the new U.S. flagship of the storied Marmara Collection hotel group, Marmara Park Avenue tapped acclaimed New York artist/designer Joe Ginsberg to create an environment where guests would feel they’re coming home to a chic but cosy pied-a-terre. After a meticulous adaptive-reuse of its beautiful 1927 building, the hotel recently opened.
The stunning result is a hotel that radiates understated Manhattan glamour, but with artisan fingerprints – a true ‘Made in New York’ experience. Travellers who’ve spied just-so city apartments in magazines or real-estate ads will recognise the warm residential ambience.
The smart atmosphere is enhanced by impeccable service combining European gentility with discreet New York efficiency. Sleek amenities include iPad Airs in every room, connected to a 24/7 virtual concierge.
The glass jewel box entrance conservatory and paved walkway invite the outdoors into the lobby, creating a portal to an intimate and tranquil oasis that reflects a bygone era. Soaring oak ceilings, a hammered mirrored polished stainless steel fireplace, a bespoke lounge area and a tranquil water fountain beckon guests to enjoy the comfort and ambience, creating a sense of place and belonging.
“We wanted to create the kind of hotel where guests wouldn’t just feel at home, but where they’d experience the closest thing to everyone’s dream of a New York apartment,” said Nur Ercan-Magden, General Manager. “Joe Ginsberg’s inspiring selections to furnish the hotel makes it feel even more warm, welcoming, and personal, made even richer with Marmara’s heritage of hospitality.”
The guestrooms also feature custom details, including works of art by the Ginsberg and elegant metropolitan furnishings that balance urban aesthetic with the tranquility of nature, creating a sense of home. A photograph by Ginsberg of the Third Avenue Bridge became an intricate Mylar wallpaper graphic to style the guestroom entry foyers reminding guests of the buzzing city. All of the distinct architectural components and sculptural focal points in the Marmara Park Avenue amass influences and techniques from the past in a contemporary style, combining historic details with chic elegance that will outlast the fads, presenting the essence of a timeless metropolis.
