The Wellesley launches 56m superyacht for charter
The Wellesley, one of London’s finest boutique-grand hotels overlooking Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, has announced the launch of a striking 56m superyacht.
MY The Wellesley was originally built in the Netherlands by Oceanco and has completed a comprehensive refit by Sunrise Yachts and interior designers Dennis Irvine Studio to mirror the hotel’s glamorous Art Deco style.
The Wellesley’s 36 bedrooms and suites combine sophisticated luxury with captivating grandeur and uncompromising service.
The design, by Fox Linton Associates, acknowledges the potent association with the building’s decadent jazz musical legacy and has been beautifully restored with a modern take on the art-deco style. It now offers contemporary luxury and traditional glamour in one of London’s most prestigious locations.
The ground floor public spaces comprise of a number of small intimate spaces, centered around the beautiful colonnade lobby. These include the Jazz Lounge, Oval Restaurant, The Crystal Bar, Cigar Lounge, The Humidor and two spacious outdoor Cigar Terraces.
The lavish Crystal Bar has a 1920s feel and decorative features, the walls are adorned with glass display cases which contain the hotel’s impressive whisky, cognac and Armagnac collections.
This design carries on in the Jazz Lounge, which has a jazz age-appropriate grand piano, with glamorous backdrop of a beaded crystal screen and opulent dusty pink curtains. The screen itself inspired by the delicate beading details of a 1920s Chanel flapper style gown.
Also in the Oval Restaurant, the design evokes the elegance and glamour of the
1920’s with art-deco inspired features, for example, the intricate marble inlaid floor was inspired by an elegant luxury sunburst clutch by Judith Leiber.
The yacht has 350sqm of outdoor space spanning three decks.
