New boutique hotel opening this spring in Dover
Port Hospitality Group has announced the opening of The Garrison Hotel, located at 181 Silver Street, Dover, in Spring of 2017. The Garrison Hotel will expand the group’s existing portfolio of one-of-a-kind boutique hotels belonging to the Ascend Hotel Collection by Choice Hotels.
Driven by the passion of brothers and local hoteliers Jim and Mark Bouzianis, The Garrison will capture the essence of Dover’s rich history and modern-day neighbourhood charm. “Being from the area, we’ve watched Dover evolve over the last 30 years into what it is today,” said Mark Bouzianis, co-owner of Port Hospitality Group. “Dover is a special place with remarkable history, so when we were dreaming up the concept for the hotel, we really wanted to celebrate all of the dynamic aspects of its character.”
Relaxed communal spaces, timeless design, and authentic local flavour will pay homage to the city’s history of shipbuilding, mercantilism, and strong sense of community. The lobby will serve as the hotel’s social centre, featuring a communal table, comfortable sitting areas, a large fireplace, and an outdoor patio and lawn area with a fire pit for year-round gathering. Other amenities include an indoor pool, exercise facility, business centre, free wireless internet, free breakfast, pet-friendly accommodations, and personalised concierge services.
The 66-room hotel is designed for modern travellers seeking a unique, local experience. The hotel is less than one mile from Dover’s bustling downtown centre, and a short drive from the University of New Hampshire and downtown Portsmouth. The hotel’s central location allows for convenient access to some of the region’s best restaurants, breweries, and year-round attractions.
“With Dover being both the oldest settlement and fastest growing city in New Hampshire, it has this wonderful way of supporting growth while staying true to its roots,” said Katherine Bouzianis, Marketing Director at Port Hospitality Group. “As a local business, it’s really exciting to be joining other local businesses with this common goal. We’ve been grateful for and humbled by the welcome we’ve received so far, and we’re really looking forward to partnering with the community to attract more visitors to the area.”
